How a virtual walking journey works
You select a route inside Mosey Mate and walk in the real world as usual. The app applies eligible steps from your phone's supported health or pedometer source to that journey. A progress view shows how far you have traveled and what milestone is coming next.
The goal is not to pretend you are physically on the route. It is to give familiar steps a story and a visible destination. A short lunchtime walk and a longer weekend outing can both contribute to the same journey.
Progress in three simple parts
- Choose a route. Start with an available journey that matches the distance and story you want.
- Walk where you are. Steps recorded by your supported device source move the journey forward.
- Discover and collect. Reach milestones, read route notes, and finish with an illustrated postcard.
Journeys without a race
There is no public finish time and no leaderboard. Your progress belongs to you, whether a journey takes days, weeks, or longer. That makes the feature useful for walkers who enjoy a challenge but do not want a competitive fitness experience.
A keepsake at the finish line
Completing a route adds a unique postcard to your collection. You can inspect both sides, revisit what you learned along the way, and share the card with friends or family. It gives the distance you walked a visual memory rather than leaving it as one more number in a chart.
Journeys also work alongside the rest of the Mosey Mate walking app. The same walks can help with your daily goal, streak, Step Seeds, achievements, and the place you are decorating.

Virtual walking journey questions
Do I need to walk on the actual route?
No. Your ordinary eligible steps move you along the virtual route, wherever you walk.
Can treadmill steps count?
They can count when your supported phone or connected step source records them and makes them available to Mosey Mate.
Can I change journeys?
You can choose among available journeys in the app. Journey availability and progress controls may vary by app version.
What do I receive for finishing?
Every completed journey awards its own illustrated postcard for your in-app collection.
